ASUS TUF Gaming BE9400
ASUS lists the TUF Gaming BE9400 as a BE9400 tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router including 6 GHz, Ethernet up to 2.5Gbps, and with AiMesh. It is most relevant for tri-band gaming households that need several 2.5gbe ports. The main limitation to check is this: It lacks the 10GbE ports found on more expensive ASUS models.
Who it suits
Tri-band gaming households that need several 2.5GbE ports. Check the limitation above against the network you plan to build.

What the specifications mean
Wi-Fi 7 and the band layout
ASUS lists this as a tri-band router with a 6 GHz radio. The 6 GHz band gives compatible clients access to spectrum that older 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz devices do not use, but its practical range still depends on walls, distance, channel width, and client hardware.
What the Ethernet ceiling means
The fastest listed Ethernet connection is 2.5GbE. This supports a wired link above one gigabit, but buyers should still count the number and role of multi-gig ports because a fast WAN port and a fast LAN port solve different problems.
Coverage and mesh
AiMesh is the mesh ecosystem listed for this model. Mesh can extend coverage by adding nodes, but node placement and the wired or wireless backhaul between those nodes determine how much capacity reaches distant rooms.
Multi-Link Operation
Multi-Link Operation is listed for this router. MLO allows compatible Wi-Fi 7 equipment to use more than one link, but the available bands, router firmware, and client implementation determine which links can actually be combined.
Check these before buying
These questions turn the specification sheet into a network decision.
- Confirm that BE9400 is the exact class and TUF Gaming BE9400 is the exact regional model shown at checkout.
- Count the WAN and LAN ports separately; the 2.5GbE maximum does not describe every Ethernet port.
- Compare the router's placement with the rooms that currently have weak service before treating higher advertised throughput as a coverage fix.
- Check which current devices support 6 GHz; older clients cannot use that band simply because the router provides it.
- Read what No subscription listed (AiProtection included) gates: decide whether the free tier covers the household before paying.
- Verify the exact AiMesh models that can join this router and whether wired backhaul is available.
What we have not tested
- Throughput at different distances and through different wall materials
- Latency under mixed household load
- Firmware stability, setup flow, and subscription prompts
- Coverage relative to another router in the same physical test environment
