Manufacturer specification comparison of TP-Link Deco BE65 Pro and eero Max 7
Per node, the Deco BE65 Pro offers two 5GbE and one 2.5GbE auto-sensing ports; the eero Max 7 offers two 10GbE and two 2.5GbE. The eero wins on ceiling, but 5GbE already clears every current US residential plan below 5 Gbps — the extra 10G only pays off with local 10G servers or future tiers.
Deco speaks EasyMesh-compatible Deco mesh; eero speaks eero mesh with TrueMesh software. Mixing either with another brand's nodes is not supported — the ecosystem choice outlives the router.
The subscription question
eero Plus gates advanced security, ad blocking, and some parental features behind payment; Deco's HomeShield keeps a usable free tier. Price the multipack plus three years of any subscription before comparing sticker prices.
