Best Wi-Fi 7 router for Verizon Fios

Verizon Fios delivers fiber to an ONT with a clean Ethernet handoff, which makes it one of the simplest providers to pair with your own router. No cable modem involved — connect the Wi-Fi 7 router directly to the ONT Ethernet (or behind the Fios router if TV services need it).

Short answer

On 1 Gbps Fios, a tri-band 2.5GbE model such as the Archer BE550 covers most homes. On 2 Gbps Fios, match with 10GbE-capable hardware and verify the LAN path, not just the WAN port.

Based on manufacturer specs and plan constraints. We have not tested these routers.

The Verizon Fios handoff

The ONT Ethernet is the handoff. If Fios TV boxes require the Verizon router for guide features, keep it for TV and let your Wi-Fi 7 router handle everything else — or confirm MoCA alternatives first.

Match the plan first

300–940 Mbps tiers: coverage and software dominate; any 2.5GbE-WAN router fits.

1 Gbps tier: 2.5GbE WAN leaves headroom for over-provisioning.

2 Gbps tier: requires 10GbE-class WAN and a matching LAN path to reach wired devices.

Checkout checklist

  • Confirm ONT Ethernet handoff speed for the subscribed tier.
  • Decide whether the Verizon router must stay for TV services.
  • Match WAN and at least one LAN path to the plan before comparing wireless classes.
  • Plan mesh nodes from weak-room measurements, not from the ONT closet.
